About Harper Mahood
I am a freelance multimedia journalist and a Master's student at Goldsmiths University of London. During this time, I have worked as a contributing writer for East London Lines and Off Shelf magazine. As an undergraduate, I studied Journalism and photography at the University of Oregon and worked on many campus-based publications like The Daily Emerald, Align and Flux. I am passionate about sharing underreported stories and amplifying the voices of those who are often underrepresented in the media.
Before beginning my Master’s program, I lived in Madrid for seven months, teaching English at a local primary school. This experience was incredibly transformative and opened my eyes to a new way of life. During my time in Spain, I learned many lessons about community, acceptance and keeping an open mind, further cementing my love for storytelling and human connection.
As a journalist, it is crucial to connect with others and build meaningful relationships. I am inspired by everyday people and believe that everyone has a unique story that deserves to be shared.
