About Harper Mahood
I am a freelance multimedia journalist and a Master's student at Goldsmiths University of London. I have written for iPaper, KLOF Mag, Aquarium Drunkard, Off Shelf and East London Lines, among other publications. I previously studied Journalism and photography at the University of Oregon and wrote for The Daily Emerald, Align and Flux Magazine. I’m deeply committed to storytelling and to elevating voices that are too often overlooked in the media.
Before beginning my Master’s program, I lived in Madrid for seven months, teaching English at a local primary school. This experience was incredibly transformative and opened my eyes to a new way of life. During my time in Spain, I learned many lessons about community, acceptance and keeping an open mind, further cementing my love for storytelling and human connection.
As a journalist, it is crucial to connect with others and build meaningful relationships. I am inspired by everyday people and believe that everyone has a unique story that deserves to be shared.
